David Lively

A French-American pianist and former director of the École Normale de Musique de Paris. At 16, he was admitted to the École Normale de Musique de Paris, studying under Wilhelm Kempff, Eugene Istomin, Nadia Boulanger, and Erich Leinsdorf, inheriting the profound traditions of Claudio Arrau. Renowned for his superb performance technique and deeply expressive musicality, David Lively quickly gained prominence on the international music stage, winning prestigious competitions such as the Marguerite Long International Competition, Queen Elisabeth Music Competition, Geneva International Music Competition, and Tchaikovsky International Music Competition. He has also been awarded the Contemporary Music Special Prize and the Dino Ciani Award from La Scala Opera House in Milan.
